Shuttle or private transfer? Which one suits you

The differences between a shared shuttle and a private transfer: how each is priced, journey time, comfort, and where the cost crossover sits.

When you look for a transfer you’ll meet two basic options: a shared shuttle and a private transfer. Both get you from the airport to your hotel, but they are priced on completely different logic and feel very different.

The core difference: what is the price based on?

Shuttle Private transfer
Pricing Per person Per vehicle
Do you share the car? Yes No
Intermediate stops Yes No
Departure When passengers have gathered When you’re ready
Luggage Limited per person Up to vehicle capacity

That single line explains almost everything: shuttle is per person, private is per vehicle. The rest follows from it.

Where’s the crossover point?

Simple arithmetic. Because the shuttle is charged per person, the total grows linearly with passenger count. In a private transfer the price is fixed.

  • 1–2 passengers: the shuttle is usually cheaper.
  • 3 passengers: the two start to level out.
  • 4 or more: a private transfer is nearly always cheaper — and you don’t share the vehicle.

Exact figures vary by route. Enter your route and passenger count in the search box and you’ll see both totals side by side; comparing them yourself is the most reliable approach.

Journey time: the cost people overlook

On a shuttle, the vehicle departs once passengers heading to the same area have gathered, and it stops at several hotels along the route. That can add 30 to 60 minutes to your arrival.

After a long flight, especially with children, that stretch is more tiring than you’d expect. A private transfer goes straight to your hotel.

When does a shuttle make sense?

  • You’re travelling alone or as a couple
  • Budget is your priority
  • Your luggage is light and standard
  • Your arrival time is flexible and you’re not in a rush
  • Your route is on a shuttle line (not every area has one)

When does a private transfer make sense?

  • You’re a group of three or more
  • You’re travelling with a small child or baby
  • You have bulky luggage (golf bag, bicycle, pushchair)
  • Your flight lands late at night
  • Someone in your party is elderly or has limited mobility
  • Your hotel sits off the main route

Do payment and cancellation differ?

No. With both options you can pay online by card or choose “Pay the driver in cash on arrival”. Cancellation terms are identical too: free up to 48 hours before your transfer.

The one difference is currency: our private transfer prices are in EUR and shuttle prices in TRY. The currency selector lets you view both in your own currency.

Still unsure?

Enter your passenger count and route, then search — both options appear side by side. If the difference is small, we’d suggest the private transfer: the time and comfort you gain usually more than cover the gap.
